Bluegills improve my mood, not salmon

Dear Woods-N-Water News:

One recent afternoon, while sitting in my doctor's waiting room, I watched a video of a physician discussing various health and medical issues. The video physician posed the following question, "Which of these three fish when eaten will most improve your mood?'' The fish listed were:

1) Salmon

2) White Fish

3) Halibut

After some time to allow the viewer to formulate an answer, the video doctor responded that the correct answer was salmon because it contained Omega 3, and continued by listing its many health benefits.

A little while later I was taken to the examining room, went through the typical 'pre-flight' with the nurse, and after the appropriate length of time, my physician arrived.

With the doctor and the nurse both present, I commented that I had watched the video in the waiting room and disagreed with the statement that salmon was the fish most likely to improve your mood and I felt that bluegills was the best answer. At that, the doctor responded with surprise, "Bluegills, how's that?''

I responded by saying that just that morning I had been fishing on one of the many small Barry County lakes surrounded by a few cottages and was welcomed onto the lake by the pounding of a pileated woodpecker deep in the woods. The sun was rising through dappled clouds, and the temperature was in the upper 60s. There was a light breeze out of the southwest, making the water sparkle.

Soon overhead there were two sandhill cranes flying their usual glidelike fashion, probably heading for their nesting site and making their familiar squawking sounds. Later, three mallards came skidding in for a landing, a hen and two drakes of course, just far enough away from me to feel safe. I caught a dozen and a half fat, hand-sized bluegills that morning...any further explanation needed??
