Take your blinds and treestands down...

Dear Woods-N-Water News:

I would like to address an issue I have never seen in your publication on treestands and ground blinds that are up all year on state land. I was out hiking in late March in the Brighton Recreation Area, an area that I frequently hunt. I counted seven tree stands and two ground blinds (made from manufactured material) that were still up, which is illegal. Three of them had names on them, six of them did not (also illegal); one screw in the tree (illegal), two with screw in steps (illegal) in one small section of state land. How many thousands are out there? I am not sure what upsets me more - the DNR for not attempting to enforce the law or all the hunters who break the law. There will be safety issues next season with rusty cables, bolts, and dry rot straps. So let's all be legal and safe - take the blinds and stands down.

Thank you!
