WNW News was special to my father - thanks

Dear Woods-N-Water News:

I want to thank you and the staff for all your good work in preparing Woods-N-Water News. My Dad was an avid outdoorsman and the lessons and time we spent outdoors will never be forgotten.

About a week before opening day of rifle season in 2001 my Dad had a stroke. A series of smaller strokes in 2002 and 2003 stopped his outdoor activity. The guns were cleaned and stored. Hunting clothes put away.

In 2004 he began wandering the woods of dementia. His reading of outdoor magazines stopped, but my Mom always picked up a copy of Woods-N-Water News. There was something about Woods-N-Water News that brought him back to camp. A story about rabbit hunting reminded him of our beagles and various trips. A fishing story brought back memories of trips to Four Mile Lake in pursuit of bluegill. A pheasant hunting story took him back to the days of walking fields with his beloved Brittany spaniels. And he loved the deer camp stories, and recalled every event from every year we shared. Dad passed in 2005.

The last year or so, we could tell what kind of day it would be. If Woods-N-Water News was open, we had him back. Thanks to you, and your staff.

Thanks again,
