Donít force us to hunt whitetails illegally next year!
Dear Woods-N-Water News:
Well another deer season has come and gone and I am not looking forward to next year!
Our hunting party played by the rules once again this year by not baiting, and once again our hunting party has all gotten skunked! Not to mention that three of our younger hunters did not even want to hunt this year because of the boredom of not seeing so much as a squirrel last year.
Next year myself and the remaining rest of our deer camp will be heading into the woods as criminals and sneaking in some apples and corn to hopefully get a glimpse of a whitetail deer and maybe getting the skunk off our buck pole! I just hope we can find some illegal bait to buy, because it was going fast at all the gas stations and grocery stores that we went by the last two years during deer season.
If we get caught, I guess the money we saved the last two years not having deer processed will be more than enough to pay for the fines.
Once again I ask... "Why the heck are us hunters who hunt public land and cannot afford the luxury of private land with food plots being the ones penalized for a deer ranch that had a so called single sick deer?" Maybe the deer farms should be banned, that's where the "so called" CWD was found!
With all the bait that we saw sold this season you can bet the success numbers will be up for the DNR survey this season and down deep inside the mismanaged DNR will be happy!
Maybe with Jennifer Granholm making the DNR/DEQ leaner in 2010, it will cut some of our biologists who make knee-jerk decisions like the one confined case of CWD.
I guess I understand now why so many hunters, especially the younger ones are not returning to the Michigan woods, like most of us we are fed up with the MDNR. I'll bet you more video games will be under Christmas trees this year than hunting equipment for our future hunters... Very Sad!
