Deer harvest reported down?

Dear Woods-N-Water News

In an article in the Oscoda Press it stated the deer harvest was down 20-30 percent and the biologists were surprised that the decline was greater than anticipated. It doesn't take a genius to figure out when you kill does with over the counter permits for seven years and then the TB fiasco started - how can you be surprised? The feeding ban, another hasty decision by the DNR has forced the deer to the farmland for food. The farmer gets block permits to keep his fields from being destroyed while the hunter across the road sits and watches the grass grow.

Last year the DNR mysteriously found a deer from another state with CWD so they instituted a feeding ban. There are four small hunting tracts of land near me and the hunters said it was the worst ever for any deer sightings. It looks as if deer hunting is going the way of pheasant hunting (another sport mishandled by our DNR); you have to go to other states or preserve hunting.
